Nearly half a million Euro has been earmarked for work in North Tipperary according to Deputy Maire Hoctor.

She says the money will assist with the running costs of the Council’s water and sewerage treatment plants and the sampling and licensing costs associated with the water services.

Meanwhile Mattie McGrath has confirmed an allocation of just over €400,000 for South Tipperary.

Tenders are being sought for realignment work at Tankerstown Cross about 5 kilometres south of Bansha.

The works include 600 metres of work on the N24 together the improvement of the local roads at the junction which includes a route towards the Glen of Aherlow.

The tenders have to be submitted to South Tipperary County Council by August 18th next.

The Mid West Regional Drugs Task Force wish to provide temporary residential accommodation for families for respite at a house at Inchadrinagh, Newport.

Whether or not this is classed as a development or is exempt is to be decided by the state planning appeals board.

A decision is due towards the end of November.

Included is Rás stage winner Mark Cassidy who will be no stranger to the roads of South Tipperary and Waterford as he is based in Carrick on Suir.

Also included are two other members of this years An Post Rás team Mark McNally and Conor McConvey. In there as well for this weekends 4-stage event are Ronan McLaughlin and newcomer Stephen Halpin.

This is Tipp’s 20th Under 21 provincial title - Clare of course were the defending Munster and indeed are the All Ireland champions.

Tipp will now take on Antrim in the All Ireland Under 21 semi final on August 21st.

The game will be broadcast live here on Tipp FM - throw-in is at 7.30.

The company owns three blocks near Thurles and four near Nenagh.

The Thurles Block where Connemara Mining has idenintified the drill targets is around 5 kilometres south of Lisheen Zinc Mines.

Their mining licence there covers an area of over 100 square kilometres.

That’s according to Deputy Tom Hayes who has called for the opening times of Garda stations in smaller towns and villages to be extended to cover night shifts.

At present only three Garda stations in  South Tipperary are open 24 hours a day - Clonmel, Cahir and Tipperary Town.

Tom Hayes says Gardai are doing what they can with the resources available to them but has appealed for the Justice Minister to address the issue.

North Tipperary County Council had sought the information last December from Richard Quirke in relation to the multi-million Euro plans for Two-Mile-Borris.

Following a lengthy delay this further information was submitted to the planning authority this month.

The plans for the Tipperary Venue, described as a mixed-use leisure campus, include a 500 bedroom hotel and a 15,000 seater sports and concert arena.

Other facilities include a racecourse, equestrian centre and golf course.

The plans have drawn 15 submissions from various groups and organisations including An Taisce, the Office of Public Works, the HSE Mid-West and Tipperary Motor Speedway.

A decision is due from the County Council on August 12th next.
