Funding confirmed for Tipperary water and sewerage works
Local Government T.D’s are welcoming funding for water and sewerage treatment projects in County Tipperary.
Nearly half a million Euro has been earmarked for work in North Tipperary according to Deputy Maire Hoctor.
She says the money will assist with the running costs of the Council’s water and sewerage treatment plants and the sampling and licensing costs associated with the water services.
Meanwhile Mattie McGrath has confirmed an allocation of just over €400,000 for South Tipperary.

Work planned for dangerous N24 junction
Efforts to make a notoriously dangerous junction on the N24 between Cahir and Tipperary safer have taken a significant step forward this week.
Tenders are being sought for realignment work at Tankerstown Cross about 5 kilometres south of Bansha.
The works include 600 metres of work on the N24 together the improvement of the local roads at the junction which includes a route towards the Glen of Aherlow.
The tenders have to be submitted to South Tipperary County Council by August 18th next.

An Bord Pleanala called on to decide North Tipp planning matter
A planning matter in North Tipperary has been referred to An Bord Pleanala.
The Mid West Regional Drugs Task Force wish to provide temporary residential accommodation for families for respite at a house at Inchadrinagh, Newport.
Whether or not this is classed as a development or is exempt is to be decided by the state planning appeals board.
A decision is due towards the end of November.

Mining company identifies drill targets in Tipperary
Connemara Mining has identified a number of drill targets close to the Lisheen Mine in mid-Tipp.
The company owns three blocks near Thurles and four near Nenagh.
The Thurles Block where Connemara Mining has idenintified the drill targets is around 5 kilometres south of Lisheen Zinc Mines.
Their mining licence there covers an area of over 100 square kilometres.

Call for increased Garda presence in rural stations
Many people in rural parts of South Tipperary are living in fear due to the lack of a Garda presence in their area at night.
That’s according to Deputy Tom Hayes who has called for the opening times of Garda stations in smaller towns and villages to be extended to cover night shifts.
At present only three Garda stations in South Tipperary are open 24 hours a day - Clonmel, Cahir and Tipperary Town.
Tom Hayes says Gardai are doing what they can with the resources available to them but has appealed for the Justice Minister to address the issue.
