Tipp showjumper has record success
There was record-breaking success for Tipperary at the Showjumping Ireland
National Championship yesterday.
Although Kilkenny’s Eddie Moloney was crowned the overall Champion for 2010,
Greg Broderick now has three horses going on to the World Championship in
Belgium next month.
The Ragg rider won the 5-year-old championship on Cappilly Cruise, owned by
Jim Bourke of Upperchurch and also the 7-year-old championship on Ballypatrick
Mystique owned by Austin Broderick.

Tipperary cruise through to All Ireland Hurling Final
Tipperary earned their deserved place in a repeat of last year’s All Ireland
Hurling Final with a seven point win over Waterford at Croke Park yesterday.
3-19 to 1-18 the final score, with Eoin Kelly and Lar Corbett getting the goals.
Noel Mc Grath chipped in with 5 points
Deise manager Davy Fitzgerald says his team couldn’t handle the high ball in
yesterday’s semi final, admitting that Tipperary’s second goal was a killer.
The Waterford management were criticized for starting 19-year-old Brian
O’Halloran at full forward, but Davy Fitzgerald has defended the decision
Tipp manager Liam Sheedy will be keeping an eye on Eoin Kelly’s back injury in
preparation for the final next month.
Meanwhile, Kilkenny are sweating on the fitness of wing back Tommy Walsh.
He damaged his shoulder in a club match yesterday and left the ground wearing
a sling will be hampered by the back injury he’s been carrying.

Waterford man undertakes epic swim
A Waterford man is under taking a gruelling six hour swim
from Carrick on Suir to Waterford today.
Alan Smith from Waterford will swim the English channel later this year to
raise funds for the Solas center in Waterford.
Todays marathon swim is a practice run and is expected to take him up to 6 hours.
He is being accompanied by Carrick on Suir River Rescue.
He set off at 9 this morning.

Tipperary team for Waterford clash announced
The Tipperary team to play Waterford in the All Ireland senior hurling semi-final on Sunday shows one change from the team which defeated Galway in the quarter-final.
John O’Brien returns to the team at left half forward in place of his Toomevara clubmate, David Young with Shane McGrath being named in midfield instead of Young.

Major success for Tipperary competitor at the Dublin Horse Show
There’s been a notable Tipperary success at the Dublin Horse Show this morning.
Greg Broderick from The Ragg partnered Rinca Rina to victory in the 6 year-old Showjumping Championship at the RDS.
36 horses qualified for the event with 6 making it through to the jump-off against the clock.
Greg and the Irish bred Rinca Rina will now be heading to the World Showjumping Championship for young horses at Lanaken in Belgium in four weeks time.
