Resignation from South Tipperary County Council.

A South Tipperary County Councillor has resigned his seat on the local authority.

Bobby Fitzgerald has also resigned from the Labour Party saying the policy and agenda pursued by the party at National level is leading to untold hardship and misery to ordinary families and people which they should  represent.

He claims the Labour Party has lost its core values and needs real leadership.

The Carrick on Suir based accountant informed the party of his decision late this week – he was co-opted onto South Tipperary County Council in June 2011 following the election of Denis Landy to the Seanad.

A selection convention will now be held by the Labour Party in the Fethard Electoral Area to fill the vacancy created on the local authority.
